Week 10

I have submitted my coursework for Cryptography. It took quite a lot of research as I had to read up a little for every subsection that I write. I love using Overleaf! I usually change the font to sans-serif but didn’t this time. The default font looks very mathsy and suits the topic of my essay: Commitment Schemes.

I went to the Hack Night in Bristol and had a great time. I took the train this time and came back using the bus. Later, I found out the same day return train tickets cost the same as a single outward journey!

I’m almost finished reading the first half of Crafting Interpreters. I procrastinated for months before this, mostly because I would get stuck on writing the code for the first chapter. This time I went ahead and read through a few chapters and wrote the code afterwards. I’m following along with Python. I’m using Pattern Matching where possible. I don’t like OOP, it feels like beating around the bush. I'm still using classes and methods but Visitor Pattern felt very verbose to me.

I used the trolley in Sainsbury’s today for grocery shopping. It requires a coin to unlock which you get back once you return it. Much more enjoyable shopping experience than carrying the basket. However, I took the big trolley and it was hard to maneuver, maybe because the wheels were faulty? I’ll get the smaller one next time!

I had baked beans on toast with vegan sausages for breakfast today. It was so delicious, and so easy to make. My joy is back.

Tried watching Hobbs & Shaw but my interest dropped about 2/3 of the way in. I mean how many times does the villain need to be defeated? It felt like the protagonists and villain had 4-5 encounters by that point and the movie was still not over.

I have been watching quite a lot of ASMR videos over the past couple weeks. I love how funny some of them are! These creators do put in a lot of effort.

I need to find some ways to relax. Currently, relaxation involves watching random WWE videos. Started watching Peep Show a few weeks back but then stopped because each episode had repetitive themes. Family Guy is unfunny as shit. South Park is predictable and weaves in political commentary; I don’t give a fuck about that. Rick and Morty, maybe, but some scenes are too grotesque for me to watch.

I do like listening to music quite a bit. Maybe I should spend more time listening to new music. Most of the time I am listening to the same songs that I accidentally discovered here and there. I’m currently enjoying Hero, DIE TRYING and Smoke and Drive, to name a few.
