Week 10

Massive progress in the Software Engineering video game. I’m very happy to see a complete game.

Attended the PGR Colloquium where Professor James Harold Davenport talked about his 55 years in Computer Science research. Very fascinating!

Our Software Engineering team went out to enjoy the Christmas Market. It was great fun. I tried the Mulled Cider, which I liked more than the Mulled Wine I tried last week. Maybe the difference could be attributed to the fact they both were from different stalls.

The Computation coursework turned out very well. The Part B assignment is looking beautiful in LaTeX. We haven’t received the marks yet. Marks are secondary, making something beautiful is the important part. This is not a joke.

The Databases assignment took a lot of time to complete. There is so much boilerplate code to write to implement CRUD operations. I used Typst to write the documentation for it. Very enjoyable experience, it’s surprisingly easy to use and well documented for such a young project! Someone noticed me using it in 4W and asked me about it. I explained that it’s an easier to use version of LaTeX - he seemed pretty happy!

I finally bought a jacket!
