Week 17
I went to London to see the Museums. I really liked London this time, compared to my previous visit. Everyone is walking so fast and going somewhere. The underground is very quiet. No one is talking to anyone. I love how easy it is to navigate the underground. Heading east, west is the right way to display information.
I lived in a hostel near the Tower of London. Great location. However, all the museums were in South Kensington so I had to take the underground for 40 minutes or so. I visited the Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum and the Science Museum. I fell sick on the second day and had to cut my trip short. I missed out on the British Museum and the National Gallery. Next time!
Still feeling unwell. It’s crazy that you can’t book an appointment for a doctor on the weekend. There is a university medical centre that has the timings of Monday to Friday. I called and it said out of office. I can’t believe this is real.
I avoided taking Paracetamol hoping that my fever would resolve on its own. It did decrease in 2 days, but I took one tablet on the 3rd day to feel a bit better. Still have a cough and tiredness. I had to go out in the rain and heavy winds today to get a cough syrup.
The Victoria and Albert Museum was probably my favorite. I wasn’t planning on visiting it but Sebastian recommended it to me the night before. The European Renaissance was my favorite section! The Natural History Museum was alright, I loved the Blue Whale. But it felt more suited for kids. Fascination for mammals is not the same as it was when I was a kid. I wonder why this is, seems to be a common pattern. It was great watching kids enjoy the museum, jumping around. Very cute. The Science Museum was amazing as well. Quite huge and very beautiful. I loved the section on Computing and Mathematics. Very nice to see some of the things made by Alan Turing and Charles Babbage.
London is a great city. I didn’t realize the first time I went because of the rush for Christmas. Very easy to get around. Lots of great neighborhoods. The skyline at night was amazing. Tower Bridge was beautiful as well.
