Week 5

We got assigned our supervisors. I have been assigned Julian and I’m very happy.

Haskell is evaporating from the Functional Programming unit. It’s mostly Lambda Calculus now. I hate how maths doesn’t have the feedback loop that programming has.

I went to a Polish Grocery Shop to try out different foods and the lady there gave me lots of different chocolates to try! I bought an Iced Gingerbread and a Tymbark Apple Raspberry Mint drink which tastes very different from anything I’ve had before.

We went to the Sydney Gardens on Saturday and it was beautiful. I couldn’t stop smiling throughout. The coffee was delicious. I want to go back and ask if they sell ground coffee as well.

I bought a jacket from the Yellow Shop. The lady there was very helpful. Though I’m not feeling too sure if I made the right choice. It’s a Harrington Jacket and it’s very different from what I usually wear. Hmmm - maybe I’ll get used to it.

I bought new glasses from Glasses Direct but they’re so heavy and shiny. I want to return them. I’ll do that tomorrow. I had to visit Student Support to know how to return it. I didn’t know I had to use the Post Office to send it back. The return instructions only mentioned printing the return label but nothing about how to actually send it back. In India companies send a delivery person to your house to pick up the return.

Eating oats for breakfast and it feels great. Why can’t I mix and match things on a weekly basis? I was eating oats for 3 months and then eggs for 1 month!

Next week is reading week and I plan to get comfortable with everything in Cryptography and read the HCI papers which I missed. I noticed that Cryptography is taken by people majoring in Mathematics which is why some of them find it easy.

I went to M&S, Zara, H&M and a few vintage shops looking for abstract print shirts but didn’t find something I like. I love seeing people wearing bold patterns - it shows confidence and their personality. Fashion is extremely important.
